Thanks to the work of Dignity Health and the Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, cancer patients in the Five Cities area can get care a little closer to home.
With the opening of the Matthew Will Memorial Hospital of Arroyo Grande, locals will have access to the chemotherapy facilities, a laboratory with CT scan and x-ray capabilities, and orthopedics, neurology, and obstetrics and gynecology services.
In May, to celebrate the grand opening, the hospital held an event for the entire community with food and refreshments, health and wellness activities and demonstrations from local clubs.
Beyond being a great opportunity for the community to come together, the event also gave visitors an opportunity to tour the three-floor hospital, including the top floor that houses the Mission Hope Cancer Center. The Center brings a host of services to Arroyo Grande with a chemo suite and offices for cancer rehabilitation, acupuncture, social workers, a dietician and an appearance center where patients can pick out wigs.
The grand opening of Matthew Will Memorial Medical Center was a success. Moving forward, the hospital will be working hard to make cancer treatment more comfortable and empowering through the services they offer.
