San Luis Obispo will abound with “mini-deputies” on Saturday, September 10.
Sheriff’s Family Day is an annual event funded by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Advisory Foundation. Free to all ages, it’s a chance for the public to get an up-close view of the role that law enforcement and safety personnel play in our community.
By up-close, we don’t mean just talking. We mean full-on demonstrations of Jaws of Life, Sheriff K9, CHP Helicopter and Bomb Squad.
It’s a special event for our community. Not just because it involves the public in the important work that our Sheriff’s Office does to keep our county safe – but also because of how long it’s been doing so.
2016 marks the 20th year of the Sheriff’s Family Day tradition. And a quick look at the flyers from the very first event in 1996 to this year’s shows us that the interactive displays and demonstrations continue to appeal to community members of all ages.
The event has remained true to itself for two decades, demonstrating the commitment of the SLO County Sheriff’s Office to remain closely connected to their community as they “provide service, security and safety” to all areas of the county.
The fun will take place at Madonna Meadows from 10am – 3pm. You can get more info by visiting safslo.org/events.htm.
