Skylar interned with Verdin in Summer 2017. Since then, she’s graduated college and landed a job marketing for a fashion startup! We reached out to learn more about the work she’s doing, and how her internship experience prepared her for it. Here’s what she had to say:
From Intern to College Grad: What Verdin Taught Me and Why It Matters
As a recent college grad from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, some people would be surprised to hear I have a stacked resume of experience ranging from internships to part-time work. However, the most valuable thing on my resume, by far, is my internship from Verdin.
Not only is it a great thing for future employers to see, but it also taught me a lot about what I want to find in a company I work for. Their company culture is nothing short of inspiring. They have cultivated an atmosphere of friendship and professionalism, while still putting their clients first.
Almost immediately after completing my internship, I landed a position on the marketing team of Pashion Footwear. Pashion Footwear is an innovative fashion-tech startup that has created the world’s first fully convertible high heel. Led by our fearless leader and CEO, Haley Pavone, our team has not only been able to excel, but we also have fun doing it.
Much of the experience I gained in my internship went straight into my work with Pashion. It’s been a busy but exciting season getting organized for our product launch, which is now underway. We are so thankful for all the people that have backed the campaign thus far! You can learn more and pledge here.
Verdin gave me something to look forward to in a workplace, and Pashion gave me something to be grateful for. The most valuable lesson I learned from these experiences is that a company is nothing without its people.
Verdin accepts interns every quarter and considers these students an integral part of our team. To inquire about internship opportunities, introduce yourself here!
