Burbank has always been iconic, but it hasn’t always said so. Known globally for its studios, the city also offers walkable streets, neighborhood charm, and unexpected moments that feel quietly remarkable.
Visit Burbank needed a brand that captured both, what the city is known for and what it feels like to be there.
The Opportunity
Burbank exists in a unique tension, globally recognized yet locally understated. Visitors come for the industry but experience something much more personal. Our goal was not to reinvent Burbank. It was to reveal it.
Immersion
We spent two full days walking the city, visiting restaurants, shops, and public spaces, and talking with residents and business owners. The magic of Burbank is subtle, already there, you just have to notice it.
Aligning on Insight
Through stakeholder surveys and conversations, we identified key descriptors that captured Burbank’s essence. We then worked with the client to define what these words look and feel like visually, ensuring a shared understanding for the design process.
Design Exploration
Color and Typography: Workshops led to a vibrant yet grounded palette and custom typefaces that balance personality with clarity.
Logo: Iterative sketches produced a clean, confident mark reflecting both creative energy and understated charm.
Brand System: Inspired by local landmarks and city details, we developed patterns and textures to make the brand feel rooted in place while remaining flexible.
Implementation
The new identity launched across:
- Redesigned website
- Social and digital templates
- Marketing collateral and signage
- Branded merchandise
Every touchpoint feels cohesive and reflective of Burbank’s personality.
The Result
The Visit Burbank brand does not exaggerate. It focuses. It highlights the city’s contrasts, quiet streets moments from globally recognized studios. A place where the everyday and the iconic coexist.
A Brand That Reveals, Not Reinvents
This project was not about inventing Burbank’s story, it was about uncovering it. Now the city’s identity reflects what was always there.
