In the keenly competitive world of marketing, Mary Verdin exemplifies creativity, experience and innovation, and she is always learning to stay a leader in her profession. Mary also has the highest of professional and ethical standards and a stellar reputation for delivering results.
Recently, this dedication to her company and her community caught the attention of the Pacific Coast Business Times, and she was named on of 2019’s Top 50 Women in Business.
Over the last 15 years, our team at Verdin has consistently won awards for creative work and community contribution, including 2010 Outstanding Business of the Year in the Community Impact Awards and Best of Show at the 2015 ADDYs. Verdin has donated more than $500,000 in cash and in-kind services to community organizations, and in 2014 started the annual 24-Hour Give, where they have given a complete rebrand to a nonprofit, for free, in 24 hours.
Mary started an internship program less than one month into her new business, giving students the opportunity to learn and contribute in a hands-on environment. She has served as Cal Poly’s PR Professional Advisor for more than eight years and can often be seen on campus speaking to journalism and marketing classes and student clubs.
Mary has served on dozens of boards, committees, and advisory groups, including The Community Foundation SLO County, Rotary de Tolosa, Hospice SLO, SLO Chamber of Commerce and the Assistance League. She has helped promote nonprofits through Verdin’s e-newsletter, pro bono work, presentations at retreats and meetings, and through board and committee participation. Mary and her company are often sponsors of important community events.
Some of her accomplishments include: Leadership SLO Graduate, 1995; PCBT Top 40 Under 40, 2002; Rotarian of the Year, 2002; Cuesta College’s Woman of Distinction, 2003; International Stevie Award for Women in Business, 2012; PRSA Public Relations Professional of the Year, 2014; Leadership California Graduate, 2015.
Besides being one of the hardest-working women in the business, Mary is known for her kindness, fairness, and sincerity among friends, colleagues and clients alike.
Fifteen years after opening her doors in a small, spunky office in downtown SLO, Mary continues to provide a personal touch. Relationships matter. Passion and Purpose. Integrity. Period. Each of our values is an example set by Mary and her dedication to Verdin.
Congratulations Mary, our fearless leader!
