What does it mean to have a healthy urban forest in your community? Beyond the beautiful juxtaposition of lush and mature trees towering over asphalt roads and concrete sidewalks, urban forests clean our air and water, save energy through cooling shade, raise property values, increase business profits, and rekindle neighborhood pride. These are just a few of the benefits the Tree Guild provides to the city of Arroyo Grande by maintaining and improving the volume and quality of the city’s trees.
Since being founded in 2005, the nonprofit has implemented numerous tree-planting projects in their community, growing 340 trees to date. Through outreach and education, the Tree Guild of Arroyo Grande continues to share the message that when selected, planted and cared for properly, trees can improve our quality of life for decades to come.
Each friend of the Tree Guild has his or her own personal connection to nature. Together, they comprise a group of like- minded community members who work together to create, maintain and protect the urban forests that are so valuable for the community. Each tree planted brings the Tree Guild one step closer to their goal of 500 trees planted.
