Keep Isla Vista Safe Campaign
Tragedy and violence have no place at a party. So after the popular spring party, Deltopia, ended in riots, tear gas and rubber bullets, University of California, Santa Barbara reached out to Verdin to help manage the thousands of out-of-town visitors flooding to Isla Vista every year for Halloween and Deltopia. Using a myriad of research on the tension between law enforcement and students and the demographics of party-goers, Verdin implemented a digitally-focused campaign targeting students on campuses throughout California.
- The combination of social media, digital advertising and digital radio brought 58,142 clicks to the Keep Isla Vista Safe page in 2015
- Even at its peak, the crowd at Deltopia 2015 was 60% fewer people than that of 2014
- Arrests at Deltopia 2015 were down 80% from the year before
- Deltopia 2016's numbers were only 14% of the 2014 crowd size
