New CWB website balances form and function for a better user experience

Q: What’s the No. 1 reason people go to a bank’s website?

A: To check their bank account.

The Verdin team kept this fact in mind when redesigning Community West Bank’s website earlier this year.

“We thought, ‘If that’s why people are coming to the site, let’s make it easy and attractive. Let’s make it a great experience for them,” Art Director Megan Condict explained.

With that goal as our guiding principle, our designers worked to streamline CWB’s site to be more modern and clean. We also added a fixed, dedicated login portal from which clients can access their accounts from any page, with some help from the web developers at San Luis Obispo-based LIFTOFF Digital.

Another goal of the redesign was to show that CWB is more than just a bank; it’s a community of people—financial experts and small business owners dedicated to growing and maintaining a way of life. We chose to tell this story through vivid imagery of the bank’s clients, including winemakers, ranchers, medical professionals, restaurateurs and more.

Those large, bright images are complemented by video testimonials from people like Dennis and Teresa Harrah, owners of Harrah Ranch in Paso Robles, and Scott Stefan and Tami Snow, two of the founders of Draughtsmen Aleworks in Goleta.
