French Hospital's new "Share Hope" campaign sparks joy and support for cancer patients

The foundation put an innovative twist on its annual fundraiser to encourage strength and hope for local patients and families.
Rallying together, sharing hope and staying strong matter more this year than ever before. The fight against cancer continues for patients and their families amidst the pandemic, and supporters are finding innovative ways to inspire positivity and courage.
This year, French Hospital’s annual “Share the Hope” gala received a virtual makeover. In place of the traditional event, complete with a dinner and auction held at Hearst Castle, the hospital launched its first virtual campaign to fundraise for local cancer patients all throughout October.
The new “Share Hope” campaign encourages community members to donate money, lead a fundraising team or lend their support for the Hearst Cancer Resource Center, which provides free programs, resources and services for patients and families.
In order to showcase the message behind the campaign, Verdin’s design team created a graphic that emphasizes strength and optimism.
With the requests from French Hospital in mind, the letter E in “share” is designed to resemble a ribbon, which is the symbol of cancer support and awareness. The two words are connected to highlight the importance of community involvement and togetherness. The graphic features a bold font and style for the word “hope” to inspire strength and courage.
“It’s all about the balance between the softness of the word ‘share’ and the strength of the word ‘hope,’” Art Director Megan Condict said.
